Cabaret
Annelies portrayed the role of Texas, one of the Kit Kat Klub girls of the Kit Kat Klub. The role included dancing and singing to every large number in the show, with extensive choreography to songs such as "Willkommen", "Don't Tell Mama', and "Mein Herr". This production of Cabaret was selected from the 300+ shows submitted in Region 7, to perform at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in February of 2017 in Denver, Colorado. The production proceeded to receive the KCACTF Citizen Artist Award, an award recognized nationally.
The Little Mermaid
In Stand Out Talent's Production of "The Little Mermaid", Annelies was an ensemble member, in which she tapped, sang, performed in a kick line, and danced in lyrical style to the infamous "Poor Unfortunate Souls." Stand Out Talent's presentation of "The Little Mermaid" was so greatly received, that an encore production was highly requested, and then subsequently produced in December of 2016.
The Producers
The Department of Theatre and Dance of California State University Sacramento presented Mel Brooks' "The Producers" in early 2016, which had the guest appearances of four American River College Students, one of which being Annelies Veldman. In this fun filled musical, Annelies was featured as a tap dancer in the show stopping numbers of "I Want To Be a Producer" as well as "Springtime for Hitler." Along with her tapping, Annelies also portrayed an older woman in the knee smacking "Along Came Bialy."
In this tale following the journey of young girl through the underworld, Annelies portrayed the roles of Haley and Bridie. Skeleton Stories is a play that was originally produced at the Theatre of Note in Los Angeles in 2012. After revisions, as well as additions by the writer, American River College presented the show in November of 2015. In this updated script, the scene entitled "Desert Aria" was performed, in which Annelies was the first actress to portray Haley, a young girl, mourning the death of a friend.
